How a stage school educated girl dared to write a book.

One simple answer to the above is - I had a great English teacher. Here is my class with Mrs Reed, a wonderful inspirational person. I took my O levels a year early, got good grades and spent the remaining year of English classes reading the rest of the O level choices that we could have studied.
It has now been 10 weeks since I launched Julia Sleeps and quite a few people have asked me how I managed to see the project through this far; for those who like statistics, apparently, of every 1,000 people who start a book, only thirty actually complete it. In addition, only twenty percent of people who complete a book actually publish it. That means that out of those 1,000 people, only six will walk away with a published book.
If you are one of those who have started / written a book or even have an idea for one I strongly encourage you to continue. It is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I am thrilled that at this point, my book has even achieved 16 5 star reviews on the huge world stage of published novels.
I hope this brief summing up of my own questions throughout the process may help you:
Can I write?
Answer - I had good English O'level results; it's a long time ago but I'll take confidence from it, I'll try.
Will anyone be interested in what I write?
Answer - Write what you love to read, you're not alone in your fascination with that type of novel.
Will anyone like it?
Answer - Before publishing, place your book with trusted advance readers who like the genre of book you have written. Listen to their critique - if they like it, others will too.
Is it good enough to publish?
Answer - Refer to point 3 but try to make it as good as you possibly can with editing, polishing, then edit again, polish again, as many times as it takes. (7 drafts for me!)
What will the cover be?
Answer - 'Never judge a book by its cover' - all the advice is that this is total rubbish. We all judge books by their covers. Think long and hard about what it is you want to convey with your cover then get to work!
So this stage school girl's advice is, if you have a writing project in mind, go for it!
